Troubleshooting

Start with dream doctor: each failing check prints its next step.

dream: command not found

Open a new terminal, or:

export PATH="$HOME/.dreams/bin:$PATH"

download failed its checksum; nothing installed

Run the install line again.

not in a dream project (no .dream/ here or above)

You are outside a project. cd into it, or run dream init there. A few commands (dream search) still say unable to open database file here.

no embedding helper running

dream skill test and dream guideline embed need the helper: dream start.

A card is stuck

An agent run ended without a submit. Its workspace and log are kept (see AI work); dream card take k-N to finish it yourself, or dream card cancel k-N -reason r.

nothing to submit

No edits since the last submit. dream status shows what changed.

<file> is outside card k-N's scope

Keep the change inside the card's scope (dream card show k-N), or dream restore <file>.

Conflict markers after dream update

Edit out the <<<<<<< / ======= / >>>>>>> lines, then dream submit.

A hook denies an edit

dream hook check -edit b.py

deny

Shows the record and its folder. Change the code, or dream hook off <id> in that folder.

no embedding models yet

Run dream setup -y, then dream start.

searching by words only

The helper is not running: dream start.

Add "title" to the decision JSON.
